Product description

The elephant image on this pendant was taken from a wooden henna tattoo stamp found in a market on Udaipur, India’s cow-laden streets. The Henna art form – also called Mendhi – has been practiced for centuries in India, Africa and the Middle East to decorate the body with sacred symbols of culture and mysticism. Brides are traditionally painted with these temporary golden-brown henna tattoos on their hands and feet to bring good luck and fertility. In Asia elephants symbolize wisdom and are honored for their memory and intelligence. In India the elephant is thought of a symbol of the “highest true self” and of good luck. The elephant pendant is 1 ¼ inch by 5/8 inch. The rubies give it more of an "Indian" to reflect where this noble animal is honored.
