Wanderlust

Although somewhat chaotic, the market bazaar in Arusha, Tanzania was laid out with organized stalls of colorful textiles made into congas, bags and scarves in the fashion often associated with Africa. Shelves upon shelves housed wooden animal figures and beaded jewelry, none of which I could use.

After several steaming hours, bartering information for my digital watch, I was led to a basket of rusty old Tanzanian and British coins. I tossed the Brits and grabbed the Tanzanian ones with interesting shapes or featured animals.

This pendant is made from one of the coins that I found in the basket. I was drawn to this particular coin with its flower-like appearance and elegant horse image. I immediately thought it would be a stand-out ring. The coin is one inch in diameter.
