Mistaken for ice in antiquity, quartz is the most common mineral on the planet.  Maybe for that reason the word crystal comes from the Greek word "krystallos" which means ice. It may be plentiful, but for people who believe in healing stones, it is the most coveted. At least Nero thought so, he drank his wine from Rock Crystal goblets. Native Americans still put these “holy stones” in every newborn babies cradle, and Buddhists use this stone to gain enlightenment.

The stone is said to have exuberant positive energy and it promote mental and spiritual clarity and there is, of course, the crystal ball that is associated with clairvoyance.  It is also said to balance and harmonize one’s environment.
