Aquamarine is a blue or blue green variety of beryl, a beryl aluminum silicate mineral. Its first known use was in Greece between 300 and 500 B.C. Its name comes from a Latin word meaning 'water of the sea'. According to folklore, Aquamarine was believed to be mermaid's treasure and was worn to bring good luck, eternal youth and happiness. It is metaphysically known as a stone of courage and fortitude and is said to assist with quick intellectual response and calm communication. Aquamarine is associated with the throat chakra.

The stone is about 1/2 inch in diameter.
