Lace

This coaster was made from a piece of lace I found in my favorite outdoor market in Rome. I had passed the linens vender for years on my weekend trips to the market almost a decade before. I had thought, at the time, how much I loved the detail and femininity of the lace, but had no real use for it at the time.

Once I started to make jewelry from what I had admired, the piles of latticework suddenly became appropriate.

But I loved the pattern so much, that I wanted to create something that would adorn the home. These coasters are the cross between home goods and jewelry.

They are made from zinc with silver or gold plating.
