Iceland's flea market didn't have the chic feel of the French market, or the sprawling invigorating chaos of the Roman markets. It offered more plastic and leather with spots of fur, coffee mugs and shot glasses than antique mirrors and elegant chandeliers.

Product Information: Despite the dearth of substantially intriguing pieces to inspire jewelry, I did come across some hand-made lace next to the cured fish stand. It doesn't sound too sexy, but the derivative jewelry mirrors iceland nicely: symetrical and a bit stoic. This piece is 2 inches long and is meant to have a moon-like feel. The leather cord has a slip knot for easy opening and closing around the neck.
