Product description
After many years rifling through objects in the Roman flea market of Porta Portese I came upon a bounty of prayer cards that are so beloved by the Italians for their symbolism and cultural significance.
His name means, “Who is like God.†He is considered to have been the leader of the army of God during the Lucifer uprising, and to have fought against the dragon described in Revelations. It is said that he will be the Weigher of Souls at The Last Judgment.
According to legend, during the 6th century when Rome was being ravaged by plague and people were dying on the streets, Gregory the Great saw a vision of the Archangel Michael on the top of what today is Castel Saint Angelo. The pestilence then ended and a chapel was built on the spot where the archangel had appeared.
The handmade pendant is 1/2 of an inch by 1 inch.
