Chinese Zodiac Pendants

Less exotic, but just as important (to me), is the Chinese ink stamp pendant series. The rabbit, dragon, tiger, monkey, snake and rooster and other images came from a dusty box of Chinese ink stamps I stumbled upon in an “antique” shop in my hometown, Providence, RI

I was early for lunch with my sister and mother and had ten minutes to spare. I went into the store that always seemed to disappoint me with their lack of spellbinding antiques, but glut of Disney World glasses, Donnie and Marie Osmond records, plastic pearl necklaces and other objects several steps below kitsch.  As I whisked through the aisles, I spotted the dirty box I probably should not have touched due to unidentifiable mold cultures growing over the Chinese characters.

I bought it anyway.

I reworked the images into pendant necklaces.
